This Halloween, students from the Limes College are transforming the Lyric Theatre into a celebration of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) a holiday celebrated in Mexico during November 1st and 2nd. Ancient beliefs of honouring deceased loved ones, combined with the Catholic holidays

All Soul’s and All Saint’s Day, make this a special celebration following All Hallow’s Eve. Colourful parties take place in cemeteries and elaborate altars are built in homes to honour specific family members who have passed on. At midnight on October 31st, the gates of heaven are opened and the spirits of the deceased are allowed to reunite with their families and enjoy the festivities that are prepared for them.
